Everything on this site is about the stuff I do for real: Linux, networks, security and keeping a homelab patched. These games are the same things, made into something you can play in five minutes. They all run in your browser, there’s nothing to sign up for, and your best scores stay on your device.
The games
- Linux escape room: someone has been poking around in a pretend homelab and left five flags behind. Find them with real commands:
ls -a,grep,ps,findand a few more. Great if you’re learning Linux, and quick if you’re not. - Subnetle: one subnetting puzzle a day, Wordle style. Six guesses to find the network, broadcast or host address, with hints as you go and a score grid to share.
- Block the attacks: the arcade version of my live attack map. Attacks fly in from the countries my real blocked traffic came from in the last 24 hours, and you tap them before they land.
- Patch the fleet: nine servers, a stream of real vulnerability headlines, and a rule that only three servers can be down at once. Patch, isolate and rebuild until the incident is declared.
Leaderboards
Finish a game and you can put your score on its leaderboard with a nickname. Here’s who’s on top this week:
Why games?
Because the best way I know to learn grep or subnetting is to need it. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, and most of what stuck was learned while something was on fire. These are the same lessons with nothing actually on fire.
